Intelligent concepts and solutions for the transport systems of the future at Hypermotion

Apr 4, 2017

Conference promotes innovation and talent development with the smileX-Lab and Hackathon

Preparations for the first Hypermotion from 20 to 22 November 2017 are in full swing. In addition to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and partners Logistics Alliance Germany, the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) and NOW GmbH (National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology), numerous companies have already announced that they will be taking part in Hypermotion. The majority are from Germany, with additional participants coming from France, Portugal, the USA, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Among the items that will be on show are cloud-based transport and logistics solutions in the field of fleet management, digital mobility solutions for companies, intelligent sensor technology for roads and traffic, real time data monitoring and intelligent parking management via sensor technology and apps.

Under the motto “Mobility as a Service”, the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) transport network is working with the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund service company (rms) to present solutions that network local public transport with private transport. To this end, RMV has developed modular components for intermodal journeys, and is working on networking systems, data and services with one another. The foundation for implementing this concept is a network-wide background system with multi-client capability and the RMV’s real-time data hub.

ITS Deutschland (German Association for Intelligent Transport Systems) and ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) will be present at Hypermotion as institutional partners. ZVEI and its members contribute their expertise in the digitisation of industry and society. Leading companies such as Deutsche Bahn, Bosch in cooperation with e.GO Mobile AG, Microsoft Deutschland, UPS and TÜV Rheinland have also confirmed their attendance.

Contact2Car will offer a demonstration of communication between cars and pedestrians in the city of the future using an electric car from Jaguar Land Rover, while the Swiss firm Rinspeed is presenting its new concept car Oasis, an urban e-runabout with its own garden plot.

One of the highlights of the event will be the Smart Mobility & Integrated Logistics Experiments Lab – or smileX-Lab for short – that is devoted to the promotion of innovation and talent development. Here, start-ups, young professionals, pupils and students will have the opportunity to share ideas with trade visitors on the topic of “Next Generation Mobility”.

Talks, an ITS Hackathon and a Career Day are among the events planned as part of the smileX-Lab. At the Talks, researchers, CEOs, managing directors and entrepreneurs will be giving brief presentations in the smileX-Arena, which is integrated directly into the trade fair in Hall 5.1. The ITS Hackathon is aimed at software developers, who will be given a limited period of time during the trade fair to program new applications for intelligent networking in smart regions. The smileX-Lab concludes with the smileX-Melt-Down, which, among other things, features a presentation of the solutions and concepts for Mobility 4.0 developed during the Hackathon. During the associated Career Day, companies will have the chance to present themselves to newcomers and young professionals, and to get to know up-and-coming talents.

With Hypermotion, Messe Frankfurt has created an independent national platform for networking, information and discussion. With its international orientation, it serves as a showcase for the realms of business, science, society and politics regarding the convergence of mobility, logistics, transport and infrastructure, areas in which digital transformation is the overarching theme. The event is clearly focused on the digitisation and decarbonisation of the logistics and transport industries. Experts, start-ups, pupils, students and trainees will have the opportunity to find inspiration for innovations, collaborations, talent development and the international marketing of concepts and products developed in Germany.
