Hypermotion Quickfacts

‘What I find very exciting is the combination of logistics and mobility. I have the impression that it is useful when companies that have been working for a long time in this field have close contacts with retailers and logistics service providers as well as start-ups, research bodies, scientific institutions, politics and administration.’

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Clausen

‘Hypermotion has a great concept. It’s based on the idea that I don’t choose a particular means of transport, but rather that I decide on the basis of my situation and route which means of transport is the right one for my journey, and that I might even combine several forms.’

Prof. Dr. Florian Matthes

‘The Hypermotion Start-up Pitches by mobility and logistics companies are a great reflection of the dynamic energy that currently exists in these industries. Everything is here – from LiDAR sensors for autonomous driving to tracking solutions for the supply chain.’

Alexander Kiltz

‘The European Space Agency is very active in several areas that are also relevant at Hypermotion – for instance, satellite navigation, which you certainly need if you want to have digital logistics or digital mobility.’

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich Wörner

The concept

The boundaries between logistics, mobility, infrastructure and transport are falling. New, networked, integrated and inter-modal systems are being created. To reflect these changes and to discuss their impact on the economy and society, Messe Frankfurt launches the new trade fair Hypermotion. This event create will be the first independent platform with digital transformation in the mobility and transport sector as the superordinate theme.

People perceive mobility as an important indication of personal freedom. Logistics create growth and prosperity both for business and society. In times of the digitalisation and decarbonisation, logistics and mobility must be available at all times and must be reliable.
And the transport system of the future will need to be 'intelligent' – that means, amongst other things, networked, integrated, digital, secure, multi-modal and affordable. To achieve this, traditional boundaries separating systems that have hitherto existed, between logistics, mobility (i.e. personal and public transport), infrastructure and freight handling, will need to be overcome. Communities and groups that have, up to now, focussed on different modes of transport and sectors in separate, independent events and trade fairs will need to come together and, in part, also face modernisation and revitalisation.

The key point of approach for the new trade fair 'Hypermotion' is, therefore, via the already recognised concept of intelligent transport systems (ITS) which can be made future proof by looking at it from the point of view of digitalisation, and should be developed further. Thus,
Hypermotion will be the first independent platform for the digital transformation of transport, mobility and logistics.

The thematic areas

The thematic areas

The seven thematic areas - Connectivity (basically ITS as we know it to date), Monitoring & Transparency, Data Analytics & Security, Hypermodality, Sustainability, Synchronized & urban Logistics and Smart & digital Regions – are all interlinked and encompass the core elements of the transport systems of both today and tomorrow:

  • Infrastructure (different types of transport, including planning, financing)
  • Equipment (vehicles, including development and financing)
  • Services & applications (including research and start-ups)

Product groups

Hypermodality = intermodal + multimodal + digital
